Classes will be generally from 9am to 6pm. 

• be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Australia; and
• live or work in the ACT; and
• be able to communicate well in both spoken and written English (please contact us if you feel you need assistance in this area); and
• agree to attend all of the face-to-face classroom sessions; and
• be one of the following:
  • eligible for a concession; or
  • under 25 years of age, and finished school before Year 12
  • from a non-English speaking background (either you or Parents born in non-English speaking country)
  • an Aboriginal or Torres Straight Islander
  • unemployed for a period of 12 months or longer (continuous)
  • a woman returning to work after 12 months unemployment or longer (continuous)
  • a person with a disability which may affect access to training and employment
  • under the age of 25 and referred by the Jobs Pathway Program

• are on Newstart or Youth Allowance; or
• are on AUSTUDY or ABSTUDY benefits; or
• receive a Department of Veterans' Affairs allowance; or
• are on a Pension; or
• can otherwise prove that they are currently unemployed and are in need of financial assistance

Please note that proof is required for all applicants for a concession.

You must undergo a Pre-Training Criminal Record Check conducted by the NSW Police.  Fill in the Pre-Training Criminal Record Check form (in the application kit), and either fax or post it to us with the following identification:

• Australian Born Applicants...
  • a clear photocopy of your Australian Birth Certificate;
    
      and
    
  • a clear photocopy of either:
    • your drivers' licence (enlarged and lightened); or
    • your Proof of Age card; or
    • your current passport; or
    • any form of ID that has your 
      • Date of Birth;  and
      • current residential address;  and
      • your photograph
        

All identification documents must be certified by a Justice of the Peace as being a true copy of the original document.

• New Zealand Nationals...
  • A clear copy of your passport, clearly showing all of the following:
    • the passport number
    • your name
    • your date of birth
    • the issue and expiry dates
    • your photograph
      
      AND
      
  • A clear copy of your visa page, clearly showing:
    • the Immigration Australia stamp
    • the date of your arrival in Australia
      

All identification documents must be certified by a Justice of the Peace as being a true copy of the original document.

• Applicants Born Overseas ...

If you were born in another country, you will need to be either an Australian Citizen, or a permanent resident.  If you are on a temporary visa, you will not be eligible for a NSW Security Licence.

Identification required includes either:

• a Certificate of Australian Citizenship;  or
• a Certificate of Evidence of Resident Status (form 283) from the Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs

All identification documents must be certified by a Justice of the Peace as being a true copy of the original document.

Most states of Australia require this qualification (with local laws) for licensing purposes. 

We will also issue you with a Certificate II in Security (Guarding) which is embedded in the course.  This additional qualification will make you eligible for a NSW Class 1abc Security Industry Licence.  For more information, please look at the usual course information page.  The program is the same, although we are able to offer a reduced price due to the current funding arrangements in the ACT. 

You may be eligible for a concession if you are unemployed and are either on an approved benefit, pension, or in financial hardship.  See the question on concession fees.

4. Either:

   2. Fax to Safecity on 02 6335 5229 and then post us the original forms.

Remember, we are offering funded positions on a "first in, first served" basis.
