risk management

Risk management and risk assessment are in high demand in NSW at present, regulations are now in place which compel all companies to have risk management policy in place.

The process: is the systematic application of policies, procedures and practices that help establish the context of, identify, analyse, evaluate, treat, monitor and communicate results.

Essentially, the process uses the same analysis methods found in the development of scientific data. To be successful, the process must be well structured and at the same time be flexible to accommodate the various need of consultants.

Risk management and risk assessment from Safecity include underpinning cost effective techniques designed for the protection of assets and prevention of crime.

Experienced risk management consultants recommend that there should be one risk management plan governing all the aspects of the security of an organisation--A Master Plan.

In reality, we often find a multitude of uncoordinated mini-plans scattered throughout an organisation. This undesirable practice leads to increased vulnerability, inefficiency and waste.

The risk assessment analysis process you are about to study is dynamic and involves the continuous monitoring of assets. It is also flexible enough to allow for changes to assets, threats and vulnerabilities. Throughout the program you will find ready-made plans and tables which you can easily adapt to any of your future management of assignments.

At Certificate IV Level the prescribed units you will be studying are listed in the information site.

  • The risk management process flows thus:
  • Define Scope of Task
  • Identify Assets
  • Assess Threat
  • Undertake Consequence Analysis
  • Assess Vulnerability of Assets
  • Assess
  • Maintain OH&S

If you are a consultant, we strongly recommend that you also undertake the following units.

  • PRSIR07A Assess
  • PRSIR08A Prepare Security Plan
  • PRSIR09A Prepare and Coordinate the Implementation of the Security Plan

To supplement your knowledge we have also included the following Australia Standards ...

  • AS 4360_1999
  • Information security guidelines HB 231-2000
  • Intruder alarm systems - Systems installed in client's premises AS 2201.1-1998

Senior and experienced consultants may also wish to undertake the Diploma and Advanced Diploma available by distance education through Safecity Training Academy.

Security in the workplace site

Currently there is an increased emphasis on the prevention of terrorism. All corporate stakeholders, including Authorities, require the presence of a security policy that includes antiterrorism strategies.

For example, Airports, and flying schools are now required to increase the level of security.

Unfortunately, good security is costly and difficult to obtain. For this reason, we can realistically expect more breaches of security in such areas.

The answer is for operators to hire reputable and competent training organisations to conduct in-house courses for existing staff to raise the level of awareness.

The formation of in-house security is also highly recommended to management. Medium size and Large organizations can receive enormous benefits from training and hiring their own in-house security.

We expect considerable changes to the current security industry training package. This site will be updated as soon as the new competency based training programs for risk management and risk assessment have been released.
